Windows 2000 - Dialup Connection
To setup your dialup connection in Windows 2000:, follow these
steps:
Open the Control Panel and open Network and Dial-up
Connections.
Double click Make New Connection to open the Network
Connection Wizard. Click Next on the first screen.  Select Dial-up to the Internet and click Next to
start the Internet Connection Wizard.
Select the option I want to set up my Internet connection
manually, or I want to connect through a local area network
(LAN). Click Next.  Select the option I
connect through a phone line and a modem. Click Next.  Uncheck Use
area code and dialing rules, and
enter one of TerraNet access
numbers into the Telephone Number field. Click
Next.
TerraNet Access Numbers are:
1666 (Flat Rate): for 56K users
1677 (Flat Rate): for regular users
1688 (Flat Rate): for regular users
01363323 (Regular Rate): for 56K users
01373772 (Regular Rate): for regular users
To disable call waiting, type in "*70," before the access
number. if
your local phone line is an old pulse
dialing mode, add "p" before the access number.
If you need to dial an extension to get an outside line,
add the
number "9," or "81," or "82,"
before the access number.
Please check with your IT personnel in your office to get the
extension for outside line for your PBX.
Note: Dashes (-) and spaces are not required at all.
 Enter your username and password into the appropriate fields.
Please note that password is case sensitive. Click Next.
Enter TerraNet for the connection name and click
Next.
Select No and click Next.
 Click Finish
to complete the Internet Connection Wizard
An icon for TerraNet connection appears in Network and
Dialup Connections window. Right
click on it and go to Properties.
 In TerraNet
Properties window, click on Options Tab and make sure in
Dialing options field the following three options are
checked.
- Display progress while connecting
- Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc.
- Prompt for phone number
Set the Redial
options as you prefer.

Now click on Security tab and make sure that the security
options field is set to Typical (recommended settings)
and Allow unsecured password is selected in its drop down
menu. No other options should be set on this screen.

Click on Networking tab. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and Client for Microsoft Networks should be checked. PPP:
Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet should be selceted as the "Type
of dial-up server I am calling:". Click on Settings button.

In this PPP Settings window make sure to remove the check mark
from Negotiate multi-link for single link connections.
Click on OK
for this window and click on OK
for TerraNet Properties to
close all windows and save the changes.

Your TerraNet connection is now ready to be used. Double
click on it and check your username and reenter your password if necessary.
Verify that the Dialup number is correct. Click Dial to
connect. |
